January 28, 2010
Ryan Jensen, 8th grade Logan Junior High student, was presented with his Dare to Dream Contest prize at the January 25th PES Board Meeting. Ryan’s dream is to fill the world with music. He submitted a poster collage of pictures showing him at various stages of his musical career along with a DVD of him playing a concert of songs from three instruments: a baby grand piano, a guitar, and the drums. He and his parents also submitted written essays detailing his dream. Ryan received a bundle of computer software as his prize. Ryan is the son of David and Christina Jensen, Princeton.
Students participate in the Dare to Dream contest through their 7th grade English classes, under the direction of their teachers, Roxana Noble and Lynette Bima. Contest sponsor Brainstorm USA states, “The ‘Dare to Dream . . . Expect to Succeed’ National Scholarship Program is aimed at showing children that the pursuit of a dream can be not only rewarding, but also a lot of fun.” The contest asks students to create a project that expresses their dream for their life. Parents must also tell how they will help their child achieve his or her dream. The contest is open to students in grade school and high school from all across the nation. The prizes are proof that if you dare to dream and expect to succeed, chances are you will. Congratulations Ryan!
