Student Expectations
Be Prepared: Be on time and stay organized! Bring your folder for Applications, paper, pencil, pen, and assignment notebook to class every day. Keep all papers for Applications in your Applications folder. Be ready to change and finish activities with the rest of the class.
Take Your Seat: Go directly to your desk or workstation when you get to the room (unless the teacher is not present - then wait in the hall). Then write the assignment for the day from the board into your assignment notebook and get your materials ready. Always ask permission to leave your seat, even if the bell has not yet rung.
Be peaceful: Be quiet and use good manners and use the utmost care with school equipment. Do not fiddle with anything, touch only your fingers to the keyboard, and use all equipment gently!
Practice Kindness: Be kind to EVERYONE! Remember, respect reflects: the respect you show to others reflects on your character, who you are a s a person. Listen to whoever has permission to speak (look at the person) and wait to be called on to avoid interrupting others. Help each other appropriately.
Follow Directions: Follow directions when and as they are given. Give your full attention to lesson presentations. Ask for help (raise your hand) when you don't understand something. Read all on-screen text for full comprehension.
Classroom Policies and Procedures
Students will learn proper typing posture, fingering, and other techniques through successful completion of UltraKey 4.0 Lessons. Students will learn to type accurately without relying on backspace and delete keys to correct errors. Students will unlearn improper techniques (habits) through correct practice.
Absences will affect student learning and progress. When students are absent, they will miss out on lesson presentations and instructions, lose skill practice time, and fall behind on their coursework. Extended absences will result in loss of new typing skills. When students are absent, they should make every effort to recoup the class time lost. this can be arranged before or after school or during homeroom on school days with prior agreement with the teacher. This does not completely make up for the class experience missed, so Students, make every effort to be in class every day!
Non-compliance with student expectations (rules) results in negative consequences. These consequences include but are not limited to extra assignments or tasks, loss of privileges, detention, removal from classroom/lab (results in lost class time), contact of parent, or meeting with the principal.
Extra credit point will not be offered in this course. Students are encouraged to complete all assignments with excellent effort and to ask for help when they need it. Grades will be posted weekly on TeacherEase. Students will be graded on effort and improvement, and on completion of UltraKey lessons and assignments. All work will be done in class, although students are certainly encouraged to practice correct typing skills whenever they have the opportunity.
