LEARNING MEDIA CENTER GUIDELINES
PROCEDURE FOR STUDENT USE: During the day, students from each class will be allowed, upon receiving their teacher's permission, to come to the Learning Media Center using the assignments notebooks as hall passes. During Study Hall, a specified number of students from each homeroom (2 from each 6th grade homerooms / 1 from each 7th and 8th grade homerooms) will be allowed to come to the Learning Media Center. The average time a student may remain in the LMC is ten (10) minutes. If more time for a SPECIFIC research project is needed during homeroom, the student must ask the assigning teacher to write a request for an extension of time in the assignment notebook. When a student is ready to return to his/her classroom, the hall pass (the assignment notebook) will be signed by the Librarian.
CIRCULATION PROCEDURE: Books may be checked out for three (3) School weeks. Books may be renewed but the book(s) MUST BE BROUGHT to the LMC for the best renewing procedures.
OVERDUE CHARGES: A fine of $0.05 per SCHOOL DAY will be charged for any material not returned on the date it is due until the material is returned. Overdue notices will be sent to the Literature classes daily. If you receive a notice, you already owe money for the book being late. Lists of those students with overdue books and/or fines will be posted once a week in the Literature classrooms, usually on Mondays.
LOST MATERIAL PROCEDURE: If and/or when an item is lost or damaged, please report the fact to the Librarian IMMEDIATELY. After a reasonable waiting period, the student whose name is on the card will be requested to pay for the lost item. The cost will be: HARDBOUND BOOKS - $20.00
PAPERBACK BOOKS - $10.00
If an item is found during the PRESENT school year after the payment has been made, the money will be returned by check to your parents MINUS the fine if there was any.
LEARNING MEDIA CENTER ETIQUETTE: Any discussions, talking, etc. will be carried on quietly and only with the Librarian and/or the student librarians so that a learning atmosphere will be maintained at all times. Negative behavior may result in loss of LMC privileges.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AT ANY TIME, PLEASE ASK THE LIBRARIAN FOR ASSISTANCE!!!!!
